Description:
Body long, snake-like, dark brown to gray. Virtually without dorsal, anal and tail fins. Pectoral fins small. Jutting lower jaw.
Size up to 50 cm.
Habitat:
Found in colonies in sand near coral reefs, down to 60 meters. Head and upper body extend from the burrow. Continuously move in wave-like motions to catch plankton.
Distribution:
Common to occasional Florida, Bahamas and Caribbean.
