Barred cardinalfish
Apogon binotatus

Description:
Body elongated, with big eyes. Body orangish red or bronze to pink or salmon, with a dark bar from the rear dorsal fin to the anal fin and single bars at the base of the tail.
Size up to 13 cm.
Habitat:
From gravel pits and rock ledges at the sea's edge to clear reefs, down to 60 m. Remains hidden in cracks and crevices during the day. Sometimes seen between the spines of the long-spined urchin (Diadema antillarum).
Distribution:
Common southeastern Florida, very common Bahamas, Occasional Caribbean.
