Stocky cerith
Cerithium litteratum

Description:
The shell has a blunt conical spire, with weak knobs. The opening is roundish. Ground color whitish to yellowish. Numerous spots make a sort of spiraled pattern on the shell. The pattern may be eroded away on specimens from shallow water.
Size: the shell can reach up to 5 cm, usually 3 cm.
Habitat:
Can be found almost everywhere. Seagrass beds, intertidal pools, on the reefs in sandy or muddy bottoms.
Depth: ranges from 0 m down to 30 m.
Distribution:
Common all over the Caribbean.
Remarks:
In most countries it is illegal to bring back these shells from holidays.
