Description:
This remarkable snail lives in a shell that protrudes only slightly from the sponge or coral. Of the animal, not more than its head with two tentacles can be seen in the circular opening of the shell, about 0.5 cm in diameter. The color is variable, purplish to yellowish.
Size: tube up to 20 cm.
Habitat:
It burrows itself in coral heads or sponges. To feed, it sends out threads of mucus, which traps small planktonic animals.
Depth: ranges from 2 m down to 20 m.
Distribution:
Common all over the Caribbean.
