Atlantic pearl-oyster

Description:
This bivalve shell is attached to the substrate. The upper shell is brownish, often mottled. On the upper surface are irregular ribs and concentric growth rings. Along the edge are scaly spines.
Size: up to 8 cm.
Habitat:
Attach to rocks, wrecks and other hard substrates.
Depth: ranges from 2 m down to 25 m.
Distribution:
Occasional all over the Caribbean.
Remarks:
In most countries it is illegal to bring back these shells from holidays.
