Description:
This bivalve shell is not attached to the substrate. The shells are amber to gray, slightly translucent. Scaly spines in rows along the length of the shells.
Size: up to 15 cm.

Habitat:
The animal buries in sand or muddy bottoms, so that only a small part of the shells is visible.
Depth: ranges from 2 m down to 15 m.

Distribution:
Occasional all over the Caribbean.

Remarks:
In most countries it is illegal to bring back these shells from holidays.
