Description:
Colonies form large, thin plates, flat or gently curved, often overlapping each other. The upper surface bears concentric rows of ridges with relatively narrow, long and wavy, valleys. The white, star-like, polyps are in the valleys' center. The thin septa are of equal size. The underside of the colony is smooth, without polyps.

Color:
Yellow-brown to golden-brown to brown, sometimes with bluish or grayish tints, with contrasting white polyps.

Corallites:
Corallite diameter 2.0-2.9 mm, with 18-28 septa per corallite; septa of equal size. Columella present, trabecular and discontinuous.

Habitat:
On sloping reefs and along walls, between 10 and 80 m, but most common between 30 and 50 m.

Distribution:
Occasional Florida, Bahamas and Caribbean.
