Topsentia ophiraphidites

Description:
Massive-amorphous, sometimes subspherical to lobate. Some specimens have sharp projections of 2-8 cm high. Surface usually uneven and lumpy.
Color:
Gray, brown, pink or purple. Internally, the sponge is tan.
Habitat:
More common in deep reef areas, from 3 to 55 m.
Distribution:
Widespread in the Central West Atlantic.
