Description:
Body very thin, with a deep belly profile; shiny copper in color and a dark band at the base of the anal fin (P. schomburgki). Eyes large.
Size up to 15 cm.

Habitat:
Occurs in clear water with coral bottom, down to 30 m. In aggregations in dark crevices and caves. Nocturnal, feeds on zooplankton, particularly the larval stages of invertebrates.

Distribution:
Common to occasional Florida, Bahamas and Caribbean.
