Description:
This bivalve shell is attached to the substrate. The shells are brown or purple to black. The upper surface is smooth. Usually lives in clusters.
Size: up to 7 cm.

Habitat:
Attached to mangrove roots, wrecks and docks, but also sometimes on reefs. Anywhere where sedimentation occurs.
Depth: ranges from 0 m down to 12 m.

Distribution:
Occasional all over the Caribbean.

Remarks:
In most countries it is illegal to bring back these shells from holidays.
