Description:
Shell consists of 8 plates. Around the plates that form the shell is a girdle. This girdle is gray with black bands. Hair-like spines on the girdle give it a furry imppression. The plates of the shell are usually eroded or encrusted with algae, but are originally brown.
Size: up to 8 cm.

Habitat:
This chiton lives around the waterline, attached to hard substrates.
Depth: in the intertidal zone

Distribution:
Common all over the Caribbean.
