Pandaros acanthifolium

Description:
Erect, dark bushes with flattened branches. Surface pronounced conulose, with blunt truncate conules 0.5-1.5 mm high (P. acanthifolium-close up). Oscules inconspicuous. Branches up to 25 cm long, 4 cm wide. Consistency soft, almost limp, spongy compressible.
Color:
Purplish black. It gives off a purple exudate when squeezed.
Habitat:
A reef dweller.
Distribution:
Florida and the Caribbean.
