Description:
Some species of this genus cannot be distinguished visually and need laboratory examination for a positive identification. The plant is heavily calcified and forms hemispherical domes, up to 15 cm, attached by a single holdfast. It consists of segments that profusely branch dichotomously. The segments are tubular, smooth and relatively hard, with flexible joints. The tips of the branches appear crosscut and have a central hole. The plants are reddish to orange and off-white.

Habitat:
Inhabit protected areas, where they are attached to rocky substrates.

Distribution:
Common to occasional Florida, Bahamas and Caribbean.
